This arrived quickly and was well packaged. I found a 1916 edition of this book in a thrift store. My 12 year old grand daughter liked it so well I ordered this copy. It is well bound and the verses are in larger cursive type print. It is a Christmas present. Robert Service wrote the Cremation of Sam McGee. His brother was killed in action at the end of WWI. This book is a book of poems told through the eyes of a soldier.Product details

Rhymes of a Red Cross Man Robert W Service Books Reviews
This is not our first copy of this book, as we have also gifted it. The historic and graphic works are so moving and timeless.
I purchased this book at my Father's request. He has had a copy since WW2 and wanted to present a friend who is a lover of poetry with a copy. This copy came in excellent condition. It is 100 years old.
I've been a Robert Service fan since my Dad introduced me to his work a a child. Anybody that hasn't read him, doesn't know what they are missing. He's wonderful on all levels.
I've loaded three of his books on my now. I also own his complete works in hard back. Love how his poems tell a story. He was an amazing man, reading his works is like being there with him. Enjoy
Nice.As advertised.
My grandfather owned this book and it was passed down. When the kid need to write a review of a poem I thought of Service. A lot of his stuff appeals to boys who don't like to read and God forbid they read a poem. This volume and his work written about the Yukon are answers to the tired parents prayers. Guns and ambulances and wild animals stalking Mounties through the snow. What more could a kid ask for?
Ah, at last I have found a edition of Robert Service's poetry. These are fairly thin on the ground in bookshops, in NZ anyway. I happily downloaded this first one and got straight into it, loving his words, descriptions and originality. This is a man who uses words without crudity, but digs them up from his huge vocabulary to describe the terrain, the life, the men, and the women. I first read his "The Three Bares" way back, and it was a family favourite, and I have gleefully read it in public, along with others from his pen, such as "Kathleen" - "Grandaughter of the Painted Nails" - "Sam McGrew" etc. etc. Glorious, funny, entertaining and satisfying. I'm off to download the rest.
